A note from Dalit:

Dear USY Community,

I can say without a doubt that USY has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life.

I grew up in a family where synagogue life was central to our Jewish practice, and the experiences that USY provided were among the most powerful. For me, USY was an outlet for service, volunteerism, and leadership development. It was an organization that cared about me and how I navigated the world during some of the most impressionable years of my development as a young adult. The experiences and opportunities USY afforded me laid the foundation for my commitment to Jewish ritual and communal life, and prompted me to want to dedicate my career to the advancement of North American Jewish life.

The distinguishing feature of USY was the enthusiasm and joy it brought to Jewish ritual and prayer. USY was one of the only places where I experienced spirited, soulful and engaging opportunities to connect to Jewish liturgy and song.

USY empowers thousands of teenagers by creating exceptional Jewish experiences, yet it can do so much more.  Please consider making a contribution to USY’s annual campaign to ensure that USY has the resources to operate, staff, and expand it’s programs and teach future generations of young Jews the importance of community.

In friendship,

Dalit Ballen Horn
