Since we first canceled USY Summer Programs in 2020, we have been diligently working to ensure we would be able to run programming in 2021 that is safe, meaningful, and fun for all of our teens. It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing that we will not be running USY North America Travel Experiences for the summer of 2021 (USY on Wheels – Classic, USY on Wheels – East, USY on Wheels – Pacific Northwest, DREAM and TivnUSY). We have also made the decision to cancel the Europe portions of our Israel programs (Italy, Eastern Europe, and Poland) for the safety of our participants. At this time, we do not believe that we can provide these trips in a way that guarantees the safety and health of your children while providing an exceptional experience.
We are working on programming options in North America that will not require travel or overnight stays. We hope to share our plans for North America programming in the coming months. This is certainly not an ideal situation and we share in your disappointment. USY on Wheels is an incredibly special program, and we cannot wait until we can once again get back on the road, knowing that we are providing a safe summer for all of our USYers.
Registration for our Israel travel programs this summer is still open, for students currently in 9th-12th grade, and we have a limited number of $3,000 RootOne Vouchers to provide on a first-come first-serve basis.
We will be offering the following Israel program options for our USYers in order to accommodate an anticipated 10 day quarantine in Israel:
1. EPIC Israel – June 24-July 27: Now a four week trip which includes a 10 day quarantine followed by approximately 3 weeks of touring.
Cost: $4930 (this includes the RootOne voucher discount)
2. EPIC Israel Plus: A five week trip which includes a 10 day quarantine followed by approximately 4 weeks of touring.
Cost: $5930 (this includes the RootOne voucher discount). There are 2 departure options for EPIC Israel Plus:
-June 27-August 1 [sold out]
-July 4- August 9
Please note: All flights will still leave out of New York City area airports, and RootOne vouchers will still be valid for this summer.
Although the deadline for completion of the application has now passed, those interested in financial aid or scholarship opportunities should visit our Ways to Save page.
Here are samples of the itineraries for our trips.
Contained in this guide you’ll find information about what to expect when traveling with USY — from day-to-day living to Jewish living to important policies. Participants’ understanding and acceptance of these policies is crucial to ensuring a successful summer and positive experience for everyone.
USY reserves the right to consolidate and/or cancel specific programs and/or program dates according to its own discretion.
Participant forms are in your Regpacks account and are due April 6.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will inform you accordingly. We do not know the extent of changes or cancellations that may need to occur, but, in the event of cancellation of the programs, any monies paid will be refunded to you. We do hope that you will remain patient as we navigate this process. Our decisions will be based on the health and safety of our community and the guidance of our government authorities and the Israeli government.
