Updated Info on Summer 2021

Registration for Summer 2021 is now closed. Stay tuned for updates from our EPIC Israel Summer, and for information about our Summer 2022 program offerings!

USY has always been committed to providing travel experiences for Jewish teens that are transformative and exciting. We strive to create an environment in which participants can build community, develop their Jewish identity, and explore the world around them in a fun and meaningful way. Throughout the past 65 years, our top priority has always been the safety of our participants and staff. Accordingly, we have made significant changes to travel offerings for USYers this year. Please use this page to find the most updated information on plans for Summer 2021.

North America Travel Programs

Since we first canceled USY Summer Programs in 2020, we have been diligently working to ensure we would be able to run programming in 2021 that is safe, meaningful, and fun for all of our teens. It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing that we will not be running USY North America Travel Experiences for the summer of 2021 (USY on Wheels – Classic, USY on Wheels – East, USY on Wheels – Pacific Northwest, DREAM and TivnUSY). We have also made the decision to cancel the Europe portions of our Israel programs (Italy, Eastern Europe, and Poland) for the safety of our participants. At this time, we do not believe that we can provide these trips in a way that guarantees the safety and health of your children while providing an exceptional experience.

We are working on programming options in North America that will not require travel or overnight stays. We hope to share our plans for North America programming in the coming months. This is certainly not an ideal situation and we share in your disappointment. USY on Wheels is an incredibly special program, and we cannot wait until we can once again get back on the road, knowing that we are providing a safe summer for all of our USYers.

Israel Travel Programs

We thank you for your continued patience as we navigate summer 2021. We have been informed by the Ministry of Tourism of Israel that on May 23rd, a few “pilot” groups will be given entry to Israel, followed by other groups and then individual tourists. However, entry will only be granted to those people that are vaccinated for COVID-19.  Our ability to send groups to Israel this summer will only be possible with the approval of the Israeli government.

What does this mean for USY?

Unfortunately, it means that anyone unable to be fully vaccinated and 2 weeks past their last shot by the time your group leaves cannot participate this year on our Israel programs. The good news is that for those who are vaccinated, it looks there will be a 24-36 hour quarantine once arriving in Israel.

In addition, based on the feedback and information regarding which participants will be vaccinated before the trips leave, we are no longer offering EPIC Israel, our 4 week program leaving June 24th.  We have committed to offering the following trip this summer:
