sukkot traditions

My Favorite Sukkot Traditions

As we know, sukkot has some super interesting traditions! I want to share with you all my favorites.

We all have a memory of  being asked by our parents to help build and decorate the sukkah with all of the art that we created when we were in preschool.  For some, this is seen as hard work and boring, but to me this is my favorite part. Decorating the Sukkah is my way of putting my own little spin on the holiday, and it’s a great way to start the new year off with family.

Another cool tradition is sleeping in the sukkah. I don’t know if any of you have ever tried this, but it is a lot of fun. Looking up and seeing the stars is truly an amazing experience. If you’re reading this, this is your sign to text your best USY friend and have a sleepover in the sukkah!

The last tradition that I’m going to talk about is Shabbat dinner in the sukkah. My all time favorite part of this holiday is shabbat family dinner in the sukkah with all my cousins, uncles, and grandparents. This tradition always is a way to put your own spin on the holiday, as every family has different traditions.

I wish everyone a chag sameach, and challenge you all to try something new this sukkot!
