Hannah Plotkin

Shalom USY!

My name is Hannah Plotkin and it is such an honor to serve on IEB for a second term. I previously held the position of International Religion/Education Vice President in 2022, and now I’m back for a second round! I’m passionate about helping everyone to find a home in USY and can’t wait to share my excitement for Judaism, and social action with all of you!

I’m a 12th grader from Cleveland, Ohio and I’m from the small but mighty chapter of Sha’arey Tikvah USY (GO STINGRAYS!). In school, my favorite classes are Human Rights & Conflict, English, and of course Hebrew.

Along with USY,  some things I love are learning how to knit, teaching my pet parakeets to speak Hebrew, telling stories about my summers at Ramah and semester on TRY, and teaching new friends my favorite Ruach song, Mipi El! This may be an unpopular opinion, but Bilvavi is #1 for me in terms of Sloach songs. I’m also an oat milk matcha latte enthusiast and love writing poetry.

I’ve been in USY since my freshman year of high school, and I’ve always been passionate about bringing my peers closer to one another and closer to their heritage. I believe everybody connects to Judaism in a unique and personal way, and I want to help you all create and maintain those connections this year.

My door is always open, so feel free to reach out. I look forward to connecting with all of you. Can’t wait for the most amazing year!
