USY, together with USCJ is proud to announce that this year we are continuing with the 2nd cohort of Machar, an immersive online Jewish leadership development fellowship for current and aspiring teen leaders that will provide an intensive opportunity to grow their skills and understanding of their roles.
In the first part of the course, we will be using traditional and less-traditional Jewish texts, as well as guest speakers from all areas of Jewish life, to think about how we apply key concepts in leadership education to Jewish life. In the second half, we will look at specific types of leaders and organizations within the Jewish community to understand how they are successful at their work and what we can apply to USY. The course will push students to think introspectively and critically and help students to discover more about how our two-thousand-year-old Jewish tradition can speak to the needs of modern leaders.
USY Director of Leadership Development Rabbi Ilan Schwartz has designed the course specifically for USY teens and will facilitate much of the fellowship with guest speakers.
Upon successful completion of the learning fellowship, participants will be able to receive $400 USD in subsidies to attend any program(s) run by USY or $200 to attend another immersive Jewish experience (e.g., camp, Israel trip, etc.).
The cost to register for the fellowship is $50.
Any Jewish teenager in grades 9-12 who holds a leadership role in their USY chapter or region, or aspires to hold one in the future may apply.
