SWUSY Regional Convention comes to Clear Lake

Seventy teenagers from Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas descended on Clear Lake, June 5-8 for the annual Southwest United Synagogue Youth Regional Convention. This is the first time the convention has been held in Clear Lake and planners worked tirelessly to make it an unforgettable experience.

The tagline for the convention was “To Infinity and Beyond,” from “Toy Story,” appropriate considering events were held just across the street from the NASA Johnson Space Center.

Regional Convention is a special time for SWUSY – welcoming the new freshman class as official USYers, as well as honoring the graduating seniors and electing next year’s leadership. But, it wasn’t all business, as there were a number of “Toy Story”-themed programs, including a trip to Pizza Planet Arcade and an exciting day exploring the Clear Lake and Galveston area with a trip to Space Center Houston and a visit to Galveston.
