A7: Camp NOAM Argentina
About 220,000 Jews live in Argentina today, and many of them are living below
the poverty line, aggravated by an economic crisis in December 2001. Because
of the money shortage, both formal and informal Jewish education has been severely
affected, bringing about the risk of losing these teens to assimilation.
NOAM Argentina, their equivalent of USY, offers inspiring Jewish experiences for teens who otherwise would miss out. The Camp NOAM Argentina has been a huge success, with numbers like 2,500 campers in a year. In the past, the Jewish communities of Argentina were able to subsidize the cost of the camps, but today, these communities are financially strapped, and unable to contribute enough to meet the demand.
If you believe in the importance of sustaining Jewish identity in other parts of the world, consider allocating your TO money to Camp NOAM Argentina.
