D15: MICHA Jerusalem
MICHA Jerusalem state their "mission is to help bridge the gap between hearing-impaired children and their hearing peers, and to help them integrate into normal hearing society." While the government treatment of handicapped children begins at age 3, this is simply too late to effectively utilize the critical early development stages. MICHA recognizes this need, providing therapy for children as soon as the diagnosis is made at a hospital, regardless of their social, religious or political background. MICHA takes hearing impaired children, up to age 3, though for special cases intensive therapy is provided until age 5. Their services include hearing, language and acquisition skills, in Hebrew and Arabic, post-surgery rehab for children receiving Cochlear implants, psycho-social parent support and more.
If helping those who cannot help themselves is an important value to you, if you believe in working to fix the gaps in the system, consider allocating your TO funds to MICHA Jerusalem.
