B5: The Jerusalem Shelter for Battered Women
The Jerusalem Shelter for Battered Women was founded in 1982 for women all over Israel, often with their children in tow, to seek safe haven, immediate aid and counseling. After the immediate relief stage, the Shelter follows through with long- term support like community rehab and help with reintegration, as well as legal aid. They also work to empower the women that come to them, through programs that give control back and support the women in their quest for independent violence-free lives.

Especially in the days and months after wartime, it is an especially scary for women to take the jump of leaving an abusive home. The Jerusalem Shelter is there for these women, and with our support, will continue to do the important work they do. In 2006, we sponsored therapeutic counseling for the women.

If the topic of combating domestic abuse, or more generally, simply helping those in need of support, is important to you, consider allocating your funds to the Jerusalem Shelter for Battered Women.
