Allocations Awareness

F6: Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society
The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society was started in 1881 in New York by a group of Jewish immigrants fleeing from persecution in Europe. Since then, HIAS has offered food, shelter and other aid to more than 4.5 million people in their journey to freedom and a new home. The HIAS has worked towards their mission of a rescue, reunion and relocation of immigrating Jews all over the world, including Jewish Holocaust survivors, Jews from Morocco, Ethiopia, Egypt and Eastern European Communist countries, bringing them to safety in places like Israel, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Latin American and more. Today, the HIAS advocates for refugees and migrants on the international, national and community level, provides cultural orientations for new refugees, and helps with paperwork, for both immigrant visas and naturalization. Among their follow-up programs, the HIAS has scholarships available to former clients pursuing educational or career goals.

Immigration is a huge and difficult process. Unfortunately, it is one that is forced upon many Jews worldwide, as persecution and anti-Semitism do not allow them to stay in their home. If you believe in helping Jews working to make a better life for themselves, consider allocating your TO funds to the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society.
