C4: The Sarah Herzog Hospital [Ezrat Nashim]
The Sarah Herzog Hospital [Ezrat Nashim] was established way back in 1895 for the mentally ill living on the streets of Jerusalem, and later became the Middle East's first psychiatric hospital. Today 70% of its 330-bed capacity is dedicated to its geriatric division, dealing with the problems and diseases of old age, using treatments with advanced medical technology and simple compassion. Its Rehab Department is known for its outstanding success rate in helping patients regain independence after strokes or hip surgery. Herzog has the only unit in Israel that specializes in treating severe clinical depression and is also a leading force in psychotrauma, in Israel and internationally. Herzog treats people regardless of their religious affiliation. Herzog works towards preserving not only the quantity, but also the quality, of its patients' lives.
