Allocations Awareness

F5: Hazon
Hazon seeks to learn and ultimately to live Hazon's theme-quote: "the Torah is a commentary on the world, and the world is a commentary on the Torah …." Hazon is a Jewish environmental group that creates and supports projects in nature, with the belief that outdoor and environmental educations are not only hugely important, but also, way under-utilized. Formed in 1999, Hazon sponsors a 300-mile bike ride from Jerusalem to Eilat, a New York environmental bike ride and more. Other Jewish outdoor education can include hiking, rock climbing, outdoor prayer – anything that takes Jewish people and literally puts them in a direct relationship with G-d's physical world around us. Through these adventures, Hazon's goals are to raise environmental awareness in the Jewish community, to raise money for Jewish environmental projects and to be available to everyone in the Jewish, including those who are unaffiliated or uninvolved.

With USYers across North America, we encompass all different sorts of physical environments. If you feel most spiritual when amidst whatever sort of nature you've got, consider having your chapter allocate to Hazon and bringing this feeling to more people. If you hug trees, recycle, or write on both sides of your paper, consider having your chapter allocate to Hazon, to safeguard our world with a Jewish twist. Or if the idea of klal yisrael is important to you, consider having your chapter allocate to Hazon and helping to bring together Jews of all backgrounds to enjoy Hashem's beautiful world.
