B3: Gan Tazpit
Founded in 1973, Gan Tazpit is a diagnostic kindergarten for children with developmental disabilities. The children's process is guided and monitored by a director, two speech therapists, five teachers, an occupational therapist and a play therapist. Ten years ago, these children would have been classified as retarded and brushed aside to an institutionalized and dead-end life. Instead, these children are worked with from an early age with all sorts of therapies- physiotherapy, speech, occupational and animal care. Gan Tazpit gives these children a second chance at living. Cutbacks are happening in many of the agencies that support Gan Tazpit, and it is increasingly hard for them to fund the wonderful programming they do.
On Maimonides' Ladder of Mitzvot, helping a person become self-sufficient is the highest form of mitzvot. If this is a value important to you, think about allocating your TO funds to Gan Tazpit.
