D11: Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind
Founded in 1991, the Israel Guide Dog Center's mission is to help blind people in Israel achieve independence and mobility. Before the opening of the Center, blind Israelis had to travel to the United States to get their guide dogs. Aside from being just too expensive for most Israelis, the situation also posed a language barrier challenge both for the clients and the dogs that had been trained in English. Today, the Center breeds and trains Hebrew-speaking guide-dogs which work all over Israel, as well as providing follow-up care for all of its clients to ensure good dog-owner relationships.
In our lives, it's all too easy to take such basic things as going where we want and when we want for granted. If you value your independence and mobility in your life, consider allocating your TO funds to the Israel Guide Center to help others achieve these basic rights in their lives.
