Allocations Awareness

D8/D9: Ilan - Israel Foundation for Handicapped Children
Ilan – Israel Foundation for Handicapped Children has established and developed a wide array of facilities and services that respond to the needs of the disabled. This includes treatment centers, rehabilitations centers, hospices, sheltered workshops, and sports centers. Their "goal is, through education and care, to assist the disabled in coping with their disabilities, to find their place in society and to conduct a full life in the community."

One of the four main facilities of Ilan is the Sheltered Workshop, which provides daily employment for approximately 26 disabled individuals, between the ages of 29-55, in a sheltered and supportive environment. These individuals are severely physically handicapped and cannot integrate into normal workplaces.

If you've ever witnessed the difficulty that physically handicapped people experience integrating into society, specifically into the workforce, perhaps you should seek more information about Ilan. If you REALLY want to make a difference, your chapter can allocate some of the Tikun Olam money it's raised this year to Ilan.
