USY.

Unusually Succulent Yaks.

Umbrellas Standing Yonder.

United Synagogue Youth.

I think it is very telling that we refer to our youth group by its acronym. It leaves what is behind those three simple letters to the imagination of each and every USYer. While I doubt many people view USY as their go-to source for yaks and/or umbrellas, USY means something different to every single person. Some people come to USY looking for a way to make friends. Others, a way to change the world. A way to get to Israel. To connect to Judaism. USY offers something for everyone.

On that same note, USY must adapt to become a custom fit for each and every USYer across the continent. USY is your organization, and my goal is to make as many of your USY hopes and dreams into realities as possible. I want to make your USY the best organization it can be for you. Yeah, you.

In order to do that, I need to hear from you. I have my own ideas, but I want to add yours to my agenda as well. Don't ever hesitate to contact me, or any international board member, for that matter. We're all here for you and because of you. Send me any questions, suggestions, criticisms and concerns you may have. Together, we can make USY into the best organization it can be. As your 2008 International President, I'm very excited to try to do just that. Let's get to it!

B’ahava,
Adam Berman
