2007 USY Chapter of the Year nominees

Pizza in the Hut – Pizza in the Hut is a program at which USYers celebrate the holiday of sukkot by dining on pizza while decorating the sukkah with art projects made by younger children in the congregation.
Comedy Night – Comedy Night is an annual BTUSY event where the USYers travel to New York City to enjoy dinner and a show at a comedy club.
Youth Shabbat – Youth Shabbat is an exciting Shabbat weekend where the USYers lead the congregation at both Friday night and Saturday morning services. Following Saturday morning services the USYers and Kadima members visit patients at a local hospital together.
Israel Lounge Night – Israel Lounge Night is a program planned and led by our Israel Affairs Vice President where USYers play Israeli games and talk about current events in the Middle East to raise awareness about Israel.
Purim Carnival – Each year the USY chapter hosts a carnival for the entire congregation in order to raise money for the USY program.
Purim Carnival #2 – Every year the USYers host a separate Purim Carnival for adults with developmental disabilities.
Study Break – Every year the youth director and youth commissioner host a special themed "study break" for the USY chapter the weekend before their midterm exams.
J-Serve clean up – J-serve is a special coalition of a number of local Jewish groups who participate in a number of social actions events – this year we helped to clean up the Hudson shoreline by picking up trash and removing storm debris.
An Inconvenient Truth – USYers attended a screening of An Inconvenient Truth and then participated in a panel discussion about global warming.
RENT – USYers traveled to New York City to see the popular musical, Rent.
Membership Lounge Night – USYers planned and hosted a social event where they invited prospective members and 8th graders to learn more about USY.
Moonlight Bowling – USYers went black-light bowling at a local bowling center on a Saturday night following the completion of Shabbat.
BTUSY Met Game (Kick-off) – The USY chapter invited all prospective members to celebrate the beginning of the school year by attending a New York Mets game. (This is separate from the regional Mets program which is new for this year)
BTUSY Hanukah Party – USYers and Kadimaniks join together to celebrate Hanukah by participating in a Greek Auction and singing Hanukkah songs.
Yom Kippur Havdallah – Every year the USYers put together a presentation at Yom Kippur where they sing ruach songs and lead Havdallah.
