Hagesher

  1. Once a month, HZTUSY led Friday night services and sponsored a USY dinner.
  2. At the start of our year, we held an opening pool party event at a board member's house; there were a number of various activities such as a Velcro wall and Sumo wrestling competitions.
  3. Challahween, the event around Halloween time were we bake Challah from scratch and donate it to a nearby Jewish old age home, makes many of the older people happy because we bring ruach to their Shabbat.
  4. The weekend after Challahween, almost all of the HZTUSY chapter goes to a haunted house in Philadelphia to enjoy one of our most attended and most popular events all year.
  5. During the break time at Har Zion's Religious School, USY set up Havurah Hoorah to help promote USY to all the students and to help HZTUSY gain even more members.
  6. Also during Hebrew School, USY held a Hanukkah Happening event where board members auctioned off wrapped gifts to the students and all the money made went to the Michael Levin Memorial Fund.
  7. During the congregation Megillah reading, HZTUSY's bandits kidnapped the rabbi and held him hostage for a ransom which went toward Tikkun Olam.
  8. One night after Shabbat, HZTUSY rented out a bowling center where we had unlimited bowling, arcade games and treats, bringing along not only most of our chapter, but also most of our region.
  9. After Hebrew School, our Israeli Affairs arranged an Israel day with Bedouin tents, Israeli dancing and jewelry making, which a majority of the Religious School attended.
  10. HZTUSY had a friendship day where USYers were matched up with children from The Friendship Circle to do various SA/TO activities together.
  11. One Sunday afternoon, HZTUSY had a Go-Karting/Laser Tag event with Kadima, thus giving the Kadimanicks an opportunity to meet USYers.
  12. HZTUSY hosted the Mr. Hagesher Pageant/Dance, where representatives from each chapter competed to win the title of "Mr. Hagsher."
  13. One of our most successful SA/TO events, the second annual Fun-A-Thon on Martin Luther King's Day of Service, incorporated various SA/TO activities with other activities for young children, such as a moon bounce; HZTUSY was featured in local papers for involving the synagogue and community at large in this phenomenal carnival event.
  14. We had the opportunity this year to be visited by the Israel Tzofim, who taught us about life in Israel and treated the synagogue and community to an entertaining dance performance.
  15. Our closing event was the always-successful Hershey Park trip, which has been a favorite of HZTUSY members and region members for the last four years.
