2007 USY Chapter of the Year nominees
Hagalil
- Weekly Shabbat Services – Every week, Caldwell USY hosts a USY/teen Shabbat service that includes a D'var Torah from our Religion/Education VP or another USYer.
- High Holiday Services – During Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur services, Caldwell USY runs a teen/USY service, completely run by the USYers and the Religion/Education VP, that includes both t'filot and icebreaker-type games.
- Blowup Bonanza – For Caldwell USY's opening event this year, we brought in a game of blowup jousting, in which USYers dueled while meeting new people and seeing old friends.
- Simchat Torah – On Simchat Torah, USYers came to services and dancing at the shul to add to the ruach of the holiday and liven up the dancing.
- Bedouin Tent Night – USYers came together to learn about the Bedouin people in Israel, watch comedy TV, make ice cream sundaes, and meet new USY members; all of this took place in a "Bedouin tent" created by our board out of sheets and blankets hung from the ceiling and walls.
- An Inconvenient Truth – USYers were invited to bring their Jewish friends to come watch Al Gore's movie about global warming, and an environmental expert came to talk to the chapter following the movie.
- Ice Skating – Together with USY chapters from surrounding areas, Caldwell USY ice skated, meeting people not only from the Caldwell chapter, but also from several other USY chapters.
- Chanukah Maccabiah – USYers participated in a variety of competitive events ranging from swimming to racing in a Maccabiah between the Greeks and the Jews held at the local JCC.
- New Year's Bash – Caldwell USY hosted a New Year's party (a few days after the new year began) and invited the entire Tzafon Bet Zone (several chapters from surrounding towns) and celebrated with lots of food, dancing, and games.
- World Famous Game Show Night – USYers competed on two teams to discover who knew the most about Israeli culture and history in Caldwell USY's own game show.
- Open Mic/Talent Show/Coffee Night – USYers were given the chance to show off their talents and skills, and the night concluded with Ofir, our shaliach, teaching and singing a song by the popular Israeli band Beit Habubot.
- SA/TO Night & Yom HaShoah Candle Packing – USYers came together to help the synagogue's Men's Club pack candles for Yom HaShoah, and then wrote Pesach cards to be delivered to a local nursing home.
- Jeans for SA/TO – Caldwell USY sold designer jeans and clothing for under $50 a piece (with a portion of the sale going to Tikkun Olam) and raised $2,300.
- Food Olympics – In Caldwell USY's annual event, USYers competed in events ranging from picking raisins out of applesauce, to eating a bowl of cereal rapidly, to eating a jar of baby food, to eating the most saltines in a minute.
- Banquet and Installations – For the chapter's closing program, USYers came together to eat Kosher Chinese food while saying goodbye to the 2006-2007 board and welcoming the 2007-2008 board to their new offices.
