Direct Billing:
Sample Letter
June 15, 2001
Dear Synagogue Members,
Many of you are familiar with the two youth groups within the synagogue,
USY and Kadima. Like our synagogue, both are part of the United Synagogue
of Conservative Judaism. USY is for high schoolers, and Kadima is open to
sixth through eighth graders. It is always a joy to see the young people
of our synagogue at a youth Shabbat service on a Friday night, or see the
children around the synagogue during a weeknight for a youth event.
In an effort to aid the development of USY and Kadima within our synagogue,
we are delighted to inform you that the synagogue has adopted a Direct Billing
policy for USY and Kadima. Direct Billing is a synagogue billing concept
where the synagogue automatically bills members with age-appropriate youths
for USY and Kadima dues. With Direct Billing, the dues for USY and Kadima
are automatically added onto your dues for synagogue membership, so you
can conveniently pay at one time.
If you elect not to pay for USY and Kadima dues at this time, you may simply
cross off the item on the invoice and submit regular payment. You may still
join USY and Kadima at any time during the year.
Direct Billing has already had great successes at a variety of different
synagogues around the country, and it is our hope that our children and
our synagogue will benefit in the same way.
If you have any questions about Direct Billing, or USY or Kadima, please
feel free to contact the synagogue Youth Director, Ariel Goldsmith, at (847)
567-9384. Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Congregation Young Israel
