Israel's History:
1965

1965:
by Kenny Gold, 2002-2003 Hagesher Israel Affairs VP

So now the the important stuff. The year 1965. Israel is a good 17 years into its existence. A few important things happend in this year.

First off: Moshe Sharett, one of Israel's well known prime minister died.

Second: The first day of the year 1965 marked the first attack on Israel by the Fatah movement. This group continues to attack Israel today.

Third (on a lighter note): Teddy Kolleck became the mayor of Jerusalem in this year.

Although this isn't the most eyebrow raising and heart pumping year in Israeli history, it still holds some events that would continue to and still till this day effect Israel.
