All Aboard! How to Promote Pilgrimage in Your Chapter
As your chapter Israel Affairs VP, it is your responsibility to encourage as many USYers as possible to go to Israel.

Here are some ways to encourage members of your chapter to visit Israel:

  1. Have a USYer who has returned from Israel speak during Shabbat or High Holiday services at your synagogue.
  2. Offer a scholarship or a discount on a chapter program for prospective or returning pilgrims.
  3. Have a chapter program where past pilgrims share stories and show pictures.
  4. Invite a representative from Regional or International USY to come speak to USYers and parents in your chapter.
  5. Have a table or a bulletin board in your youth lounge with information about Pilgrimage.
  6. Have a "mock pilgrimage" chapter program where USYers can do some things that pilgrims get to do in Israel (go swimming, eat falafel, sell products from Israel, do an archaeological dig etc.).
  7. Post the top 50 reasons to go to Israel at your synagogue.
  8. Make phone calls and send personalized emails to anybody you think would be interested in Pilgrimage - it can't hurt to ask!
