How to be
Israel Advocates

Opportunities to become an Israel Advocate
Yes that is right, as a member of Hechalutzim, you will get amazing chances to become a better Israel advocate. Many of these opportunities are available on the USY website in the Israel Advocacy section, but there are many other opportunities that will only be available to Hechalutzim members. In addition, each individual region may have its own Israel Advocacy program for Hechalutzim members so check out what is going on in your own region. Below is a list of different ways you can become an Israel Advocate by being a member of HeChalutzon (Some of these ideas can also be started up in your region so speak to your Regional Israel Affairs VP to start one up):

  • Invite speakers to visit your synagogue and speak to HeChalutzim members about Israel.
  • Start an Israel-related book club in your region or chapter where each month a different book is read and discussed.
  • Contribute or start an HeChalutzim newsletter in your own region or chapter.
  • Write an article for HeChalutzon, USY's official Israel newsletter.
  • Give an Israel Update at every chapter program.
  • Decorate your shul with Israel posters and information sheets.
  • Create your own "Myths and Facts" and hand them out at USY programs or synagogue services.
  • Wear an Israeli flag at all USY programs.
  • Receive copies of HeChalutzon, USY's official Israel newsletter to learn more about Israel.
  • Be a part of USY's Israel Advocacy On-Line Class (to be started soon).
  • Join the HeChalutzim Listserve where you can discuss all-things Israel.
  • Learn more about media bias and how you can report media bias.
