USY Israel Challenge
Hagesher - Regional Challenges:
- Israel-themed Divrei Torah
This challenge calls for USYers to write Divrei Torah and connect
the Parasha to the land of Israel. They can do this by connecting
details in the Parasha to the physical land, places in Israel, similar
events in Israeli history … anything. Divrei Torah must be submitted
before the Parasha has passed. The region will be required to write
five (5) Divrei Torah. No more than two (2) may be written by one
USYer. Extras will be awarded additional Shekalim.
- Israel Calendars
Regions will make their own regional Israel Calendars that will be sold for
TO. For each month there will be a picture of a scene in Israel and the actual
page of dates. The region may sell spaces on the pages for special events.
For example: If someone wants to print their birthday they will donate $2
to TO and when the calendar is printed the date would say "Sarah's Birthday."
Dates of regional events and chagim will also be printed. Calendars
will be printed and later sold to the region. Before choosing the challenge
this idea must be approved by the regional director.
