Listserv Owner Tools: List Membership Review
One would hope that if you were subscribed to a listserv and tried to subscribe
again, it would tell you that you were already subscribed. Unfortunately,
the USCJ server is case-sensitive with emails - if you are subscribed to
a list with the e-mail address myemail@aol.com and try to subscribe
again with MyEmail@aol.com, you'll be subscribed twice, with the
same e-mail address. This causes problems because now you're getting every
single e-mail sent to the listserv twice. Considering the amount of
email sent over some listserves, this can turn into quite a lot of extra
e-mail.
This page is to help find duplicate e-mail addresses on your listserve.
Just copy and paste a list of all the e-mail addresses in the list into
the box below - you can get them by clicking "Manage Subscribers" from the
"Manage your List" page, and clicking to view them all in your browser.
When you submit the form, a list of e-mail addreses may appear - these are
addresses that are subscribed more than once.
When you go to fix the problems, you need to delete the addresses from
the list and then re-add them. The server isn't case-sensitive when deleting
(as opposed to adding), so deleting myemail@aol.com will delete MyEmail@aol.com
as well. You need to re-add myemail@aol.com after deleting it.
