LaNasi:
Resources for Chapter Presidents
Hey Chapter Presidents,
Congratulations on your newly elected positions! As some of you might know, LaNasi is a USY publication geared towards improving leadership and providing advice and ideas to USY leaders, especially Chapter Presidents. This year, we hope to have LaNasi reach its full potential by creating a series of themed publications that will be sent throughout 2008. These publications will provide helpful ideas, advice, and inspiration to chapter leaders. By strengthening the chapters, the building blocks of our youth group, USY as a whole will benefit. The first step in creating these LaNasi publications is soliciting articles.
Therefore, we would appreciate it if you all would send us the contact information of the newly installed chapter presidents in your region (names, email addresses, and phone numbers). The contact information will also help us to utilize the LaNasi listserv so that we can contact the chapter presidents whenever we need to.
LaNasi publications will focus on a variety of leadership topics to help all our chapters grow, including:
- How to run a board meeting
- How to encourage chapter members to become involved regionally
- Communicating within the chapter
- Communicating with board members
- Encouraging summer programs
- How to successfully plan/run an event
- How to incorporate Israel and SA/TO into the chapter
- Working effectively with Advisors, Youth Coordinators, and other adults
- Working together with nearby chapters
If any of you would be interested in writing an article based on your leadership experience, send them to us at lanasi@usy.org.
Over the rest of 2008, we hope to greatly expand the role of LaNasi in USY, primarily through LaNasi listserv. The listserv will enable us to strengthen our ties with the regional and chapter leaders and it will create an easy way for USYers to contact us with any questions or concerns they may have about USY leadership. Ideally, people will post questions on the listserv and other USYers will respond with answers and suggestions. This can also be achieved through the LaNasi Facebook group that we recently created. We hope to continue this over the rest of the year, thereby creating more personal relationships with chapter leaders throughout USY.
We also plan to update and improve the LaNasi section of the USY website so that we can provide helpful advice and LaNasi publications to USYers over the web. With a little hard work, LaNasi will help us all make a difference in USY.
