Chat Types

We do a lot of different types of chats. This is a brief list of the different flavors of chats you can have here on USY online:

  • Topic Chats
Most chats are Topic chats. These chats are focused around a single topic, and sometimes move into other topics. These chats are supposed to stay on topic, even if the topic changes, and are for discussion.
  • "Open Mic Night" Chats
An Open Mic Night chat is, effectively, a social chat. Anyone can come and talk about anything they want, as long as it isn't breaking any rules (i.e. being obscene, etc.).
  • "Board" Chats
A Board chat is a chat for people on any board. They can come and discuss their problems and hopefully get some solutions from others who are at the chat. They are not only for people on a board, but for anyone who wants to come as long as they stay on topic. They are also great for people who aren't on any board and are considering running - you can see sides of being on board that you might not know about, and see what the different positions really end up doing.
  • Chapter Presidents' Chats
A Chapter Presidents' Chat is a chat specifically oriented towards chapter presidents. The issues discussed here pertain directly to chapter presidents and their jobs for their chapters; however anyone is welcome to come and join us as long as they stay on topic. These chats are run jointly by the Online Services Chair and LaNasi chair.

Like the board chats, these are almost exclusively for chapter presidents. However, if you are considering running for chapter president, this is a great way to see what really goes on. However, if you make an ass out of yourself, you will be sent on a one-way train to Banland. But you're allowed to stay and watch if you keep quiet.
