Today we had a low-key but fun day. In the morning we sorted our remaining materials and food and prepared them for storage and donation. Then we headed to Philadelphia, making two stops along the way – at the LOVE statue and at Rita’s Water Ice for a refreshing treat. Finally, we went to Beth Sholom, our host synagogue in Cherry Hill for an Italian-style dinner and to hear from the shul’s shlichim.

We started our day in D.C. at the Newseum, where we learned about the history and evolution of journalism. Then we ate lunch in Lafayette Park and took some photos in front of the White House. Before Shabbat we went to Montgomery Mall and a supermarket to do some Shabuddy and food shopping for the weekend. It’s going to be a fantastic last Shabbat!

Our first day in D.C. began with a tour of the Capitol. The highlight of the day was the Spy Museum, with lots of time spent exploring the world of James Bond villains. After dinner, our great day was finished with slurpees from 7/11. Then we headed to our host homes for our second to last night of home hospitality.

We had a great day of travel and fun. We started the day in Wilmington North Carolina. As we drove farther north we stopped at Duke University where we ate our lunches and enjoyed the nice weather. Our second stop was at an ice skating rink. We had so much fun skating around the rink in the nice and cool air. Once we left the rink we were on our way to Richmond, Virginia. As our evening activity we had a pajama party and watched Monsters University. We had so much fun and cannot wait for DC tomorrow!

We had a bright and early start this morning in South Carolina to head up to North Carolina. Our first stop was Myrtle Beach for some beach cleanup. Even though there wasn’t much to clean we still had a lot of fun in the water. Next we went to MagiQuest, an interactive wizarding quest. We spent the rest of our day bonding with each other while walking on the Myrtle Beach boardwalk and munching on snacks. Then after we arrived at the hotel and ate dinner the boys and girls competed head to head in a dance off to the song “Make a Man Out of You” from Disney’s Mulan. There was no official winner but we had so much fun showing off our moves!

Today we left Savannah and headed to Charleston, South Carolina. We spent a few hours at the South Carolina Aquarium, and we were even able to touch the stingrays there! Then we went to Synagogue Emanu-El, our host synagogue in Charleston. We davened Mincha and then split up for a gender swap bonding program. The girls went with our male staff to make up a dance to the song “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Mulan. Meanwhile, the female staff created a spa for the boys, which consisted of cucumber water, face masks, and nail care. Then we ate an Italian-style dinner and had some free time at the shul. Tomorrow we head to North Carolina!

Our day started out with a late wake up, followed by Shacharit separated by gender. Both groups had intriguing discussions about different concepts in the prayers. Then we ate breakfast, packed our lunches, and waited for Ben Varon, our temporary group leader, to arrive. Once we were all packed up, we left Jacksonville, Florida and headed to Savanna, Georgia. After eating lunch on the bus, we got ready to compete in a huge scavenger hunt around downtown Savanna! It was a close race but all of the groups had a great time exploring the city. Following the scavenger hunt the staff treated us to delicious ice cream at Leopold’s. It was an amazing treat, especially on such a hot day. We ended the day with dinner at the hotel and a late night ghost tour where we walked around downtown Savannah hearing the interesting stories of historic Savanna. We can’t wait for an exciting day tomorrow and to see what surprises are in store for us!
