USY on Wheels, Bus D (Pacific Northwest)
PNW ended the week with an exciting day in Portland. First, there was a tour of the Oregon Jewish Museum, followed by the International Test Rose Garden. This is a breathtaking garden that the Wheelnik’s undoubtedly took out their cameras to capture. Finally, the group went to OMSI, The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, which is a science and technology museum. Then, the group welcomed Shabbat together and they are all looking forward to relaxing, learning, and bonding together.

Pacific Northwest woke up in one of America’s most beautiful places, Crater Lake National Park. On the drive back to Portland, the group got to see Smith’s Berry Barn in Hillsboro, Oregon and sample some of the delicious fruit as part of the July 4th Berry Festival. At night, the group went to a Hillsboro Hops baseball game and watched them play against the Vancouver Canadians.

Pacific Northwest left Portland in the morning to head to Crater Lake National Park. Along the way, the group stopped at Alpacas of Oregon in Sherwood, where they got to see and experience a fully functional alpaca farm. The group got to take a drive around Crater Lake before dinner, and discussed hopes and dreams during their evening program.

The Pacific Northwest group’s first full day together was a hit! In the morning, they davened shacharit, with an emphasis on oseh maseh bereshit, the blessing for creation. The rest of the day was spent at Mt. St Helens and then the famous Powell’s book store where the kids attempted to read every book in there! (Just kidding) In the evening, the group had really fun activities including “Get To Know Your Staff” and “Are You Smarter Than A USY Staff Member”. Great day for PNW!

The summer has officially begun for USY on Wheels: Pacific Northwest! The group spent the day settling into Seattle, getting to know one another, playing ice breaker games, bonding, and getting excited for the rest of the summer. The group was exhausted from all the traveling and fun so they went to bed early and are preparing themselves to head to Portland tomorrow!
