When they arrived, they spent time at Old Town Albuquerque to shop around and take pictures. In the evening, they went to the Hinkle Family Fun Center. The group began their day at Yad Lekashish, a non-profit based in Jerusalem that provides employment and social services to over 300 elderly artisans. Then, they had the opportunity to plant trees in the beautiful Jerusalem Hills, in honor or memory of someone. They then headed to the Old City where they had some free time and lunch in the Jewish Quarter and had an emotional last visit at the Kotel. They returned to the Fuchsberg Center for their final banquet and final group session, sharing their memories and moments before getting ready and departing to the airport. They all had an amazing summer trip in Israel and we look forward to seeing them back in Israel every soon!!
The group woke up to their first full day in Eilat! They began with snorkeling and observing the beauty of the Red Sea (which is in fact, blue). Then, they continued to the underwater aquarium, where they saw sharks, tortoises, and an entire assortment of fish. From there, they had a delicious lunch in the Hallelujah Restaurant, followed by some free time in the mall. Their final destination for the day was the Disco Boat, certainly a memorable night for the group!
The group spent their day in Tel Aviv. First, they went to Independence Hall to learn about the Declaration of Independence by David Ben Gurion in 1948. Following that, they went on a tour of the beautiful Old Jaffa and passed the flea market. The group headed to Rabin Square ,”Kikar Rabin”, the site Yitzchak Rabin’s (a previous Prime Minister of Israel) final hours, as he went to a peace rally and was then assassinated. They also visited the Olympic Museum where they learned about the Olympic Games and Israeli participation in the Olympic Games over the years, a really cool museum! Tonight they will have some free time in the famous Azreili Mall in Tel Aviv and will be sleeping over in Bat Yam.
The group began their morning with a wonderful hike at Ein Ovdat. They then headed to Machon Ayalon, an underground bullet factory which was a part of the Haganah. Today, Bus A davened shachrit and had a program about the Amidah prayer. Then, they spent the day traveling to the Grand Canyon. The scenery that surrounded them on their journey was absolutely breath taking! When they arrived, they got their first peak of the Grand Canyon at the Visitor Center! Then, they ate a delicious dinner, had some free time ,and had an evening bonding program where they read a story about King Solomon. The story taught them how they should appreciate the rest of their trip. Then, they wrote letters to themselves to read at a later date. Finally, they went to bed early to prepare for an awesome day tomorrow.
