July 26, 2013

Today the group learned about “New Jerusalem”, which traced the line that was Israel’s border with Jordan before 1967. Their first stop was the Tayelet, which provided a beautiful overview of the Old City. Then they went to Ammunition Hill and walked through trenches which used to be a part of a Jordanian bunker that was the center of battle in 1967. In the afternoon, they walked by the Knesset and learned more about Israeli politics. Then they went to Shuk Machane Yehuda one final time before returning to base to pack and prepare for their final Shabbat together. One last Shabbat filled with singing, learning, ruach, bonding and lots of fun! Shabbat Shalom!

Happy Wednesday from Bus A! After shacharit ,eating breakfast, and making lunches, the group was headed to Albuquerque! When they arrived, they could choose to spend time at Old Town Albuquerque to shop around and take pictures, visit the Rattlesnake Museum. In the evening, after eating a delicious dinner, Bus A went to the Hinkle Family Fun Center. The name really describes the place well because it’s filled endless activities for the kids to participate in. What an awesome day for the group!

This morning in shachairit, Bus B learned the Az Yashir song and dance. Then, they were on their way to Yellowstone National Park.The scenery that surrounded them on their journey was absolutely breath taking! When they arrived, they immediately went to the Yellowstone Visitor Center and got settled in. Then, they ate a delicious dinner, had some free time and had an evening bonding program where they shared some positive qualities about themselves and others. They concluded this awesome day with stargazing and admiring just how clearly you can see the stars in this beautiful location.

Happy Wednesday from Bus H! In the morning, they davened shachrit together and concluded their learning of the Amidah blessings. Then, they spent their day at Road Runner Food Bank. They bagged cereal for their breakfast program and sorted out produce to provide only fresh fruit. Later on, they went to the Balloon Museum. In the evening, they went to the Hinkle Family Fun Center. The name really describes the place well because it’s filled endless activities for the kids to participate in.  They also concluded their color war competition and the Green Team came out victorious. Congrats guys! What an awesome day for the group!

Bus E is headed for Virginia! They began their day with davening shacharit together and loading the bus for the drive. On the way, they had lunch at Duke University’s Hillel and then stopped at Polar Ice House and were able to skate around and have a lot of fun. After that, they headed to the hotel and ate dinner and getting some rest for their wonderful day tomorrow.

Yeehaw and happy Wednesday from Bus C! After davening shacharit, eating breakfast, and making lunches, the group channeled their inner adventurous selves for the Amarillo Jeep Tours. They got to experience Texas’ beautiful scenery and cliffs while sitting back in the comfortable Jeeps! They also stopped at Cadillac Ranch, an awesome site on Route 66 where old Cadillac’s are buried into the ground and covered in decades worth of spray paint. The Wheelniks had to opportunity to leave their marks on the cars as well. Later in the evening, the group had some fun with an dance and ice cream party!

The group left Eilat this morning and headed to Kibbutz Sde Boker, where they visited David Ben Gurion, the first Prime Minister of Israel’s house, followed by a visit to Ben Gurion’s grave which has a beautiful overlook. The group then headed to Kfar Nokfdim, to ride some camels, and enjoy the Bedouin hospitality. There, they will learn about the Bedouin culture and religion, eat some delicious Bedouin food, and sleep in the Bedouin tents. It is undoubtedly an experience they will never forget!
