Group 1: Israel Adventure
July 28, 2013
The group started their final day at Yad Lekashish, a non-profit based in Jerusalem that provides employment and social services to over 300 elderly artisans. They had one last visit to the wonderful Ben Yehuda street. Then, they back to base to pack and prepare for their final banquet dinner. This evening, the group came together to share memories of everything they have done this and accomplished on their incredible journey this summer. At the end of their night, they loaded the buses and headed to the airport. We know that Group 1 had an amazing summer and look forward to returning to Israel again soon!

The group started their relaxing morning with a program on Israel where they took some time to reflect on their past few weeks in Israel and their growth together. They then spent some time at shuk Machane Yehuda for some last minute Shabbat shopping, visited the beautiful Mamilla center, the Old City and the Kotel for one final time. They returned to base to pack and prepare for their final Shabbat together, which will be filled with meaningful davening, singing, ruach, bonding, relaxing and lots of fun! Shabbat Shalom!

The group started their morning at Herzl Museum. It provides a spectacular audio-visual encounter with the visionary of the Jewish State. Then, they visited Yad Vashem, Israel’s official memorial to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust. After an emotional few hours ,they headed to have some fun plating trees in honor or memory of someone in their lives at a JNF Forest. The group returned to the Fuchsberg Center and will enjoy an exciting night at a big Maccabia Games event filled with some great performances at the Sultan’s Pool in Jerusalem.

The group had an awesome and exhausting day! They woke up at 3:45am to hike Masada and fortunately, they made it up before sunrise! On top of Masada, they davened a spiritual shacharit while looking at the beautiful view. They continued on to Ein Gedi and spent some time in the fresh water spring and then on a hike through Nahal David. After that, they headed to the Dead Sea, painted themselves in mud, and enjoyed floating around in the water! This evening they will be participating in a fun evening program of drama games and they will then have Yad Vashem preparation before having an early bed-time.

The group left Peki’in this morning and headed south. They went swimming at the beautiful springs of the Sachne below the Gilboa mountain. Later, they visited the very interesting Israeli Airforce Museum and continued to the final destination for the day- Chavat Hanokdim to enjoy some Bedouin hospitality. They learned about the Bedouin culture and community, ate a delicious kosher meal, enjoyed camel riding, and sleeping in the Bedouin tents this evening. This for sure is one of the highlights of the trip!

The group started their morning at a beautiful overlook at Metulla, which overlooks Lebanon, and they learned about Israel’s wars with Lebanon. They then headed to Nahal Snir and did a refreshing water hike before they went river rafting down the Jordan River in Kfar Blum. This was undoubtedly one of the most awesome experiences! They had some free time in Kiryat Shemona, to explore the city and eat dinner, and then returned to Peki’in for the night.

The group started their day at Rosh Hanikra where they walked through beautiful grottos that were formed by water hitting the rocks for hundreds of years. They then visited the Old Prison Museum in Acco, where they learned about the underground organizations that were active before 1948. They managed to do some pre-Shabbat shopping before heading to Hannaton. The group spent another beautiful Shabbat together filled with fun, learning, relaxation, and more quality time with each other.
