USY on Wheels, Bus E (East)
July 13, 2012
Bus E had a mitzvah-filled day in Jacksonville. The group boarded a ferry to Little Talbot Island State park where they toured the park and had a delicious lunch. The Wheelniks then volunteered by helping clean up the beach. The weather was warm but the USYers were kept cool by the idea that they were helping out so many animals and people! At lunch, the Wheelniks were treated to a staff cooked feast, which was followed by hanging out on the beach. Bus E can’t wait for another Shabbat together in Jacksonville! Shabbat Shalom!

Bus E had a wonderful continuation of their time in Florida today, beginning with their trip to Downtown Disney where they fraternized with some famous Disney characters and had a chance to enjoy that southern weather! From there, the group headed to Kennedy Space Center where they toured the installation that has been the launch site for every United States human space flight since 1968. Very cool. Later this evening, the group will head over to the Jacksonville Jewish Center for an awesome pool party and BBQ!

This morning Bus E headed to their host shul and davened shacharit there. Then the group spent the day at Universal Studios Island of Adventure. In the park the wheelniks had tons of fun in the Harry Potter World section. Many of the wheelniks also visited the Dr. Seuss themed section of the park and rode the roller coasters at Superhero Island. The group is having a great time at the theme parks in the Orlando area.

Today Bus E got up early for what is one of the most fun days on Wheels: Disney Day! Bus E had a fantastic day with Mickey and Co. as they rode the rides and experienced all the fun in the Magic Kingdom. After a long day the group will return to their home hospitality hosts for the evening.

After a wonderful Shabbat in Atlanta, learner’s services minyan on Sunday followed by puppet making, Bus E headed from Atlanta to Orlando today. The lengthy drive allowed for some great bonding and bus games. In addition to bus fun, the Wheelniks chanced to stop at the Butterfly Rainforest, a 6,400-square-foot screened, outdoor enclosure with subtropical plants and hundreds of living butterflies. The group got some beautiful shots with some beautiful creatures. Once they finally make it to Orlando, the group will be hosted Ohev Shalom for some highly anticipated home hospitality. Bus E can’t wait to explore the great state of Florida this week!
