Bus C had an incredibly special, outdoorsy day today! They began by exploring Yellowstone National Park and getting some great shots with Old Faithful, one of the most amazing geographical features in the country, one that erupts every 91 minutes! Even though they will get to the real one later this summer, Bus C loved exploring the beauty of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, taking a quick hike around parts of the canyon. Once they get settled in their sleeping area for the night, Bus C will have the all important group bonding because what better place is there to come together as a group than under the beautiful stars of Big Sky country? To cap off their evening, the group will make some delicious grilled cheese sandwiches!

On their drive to Billings, Montana, Bus C stopped at the Tri-state museum, which marks the center of the United States, a very cool spot. Once back at the hotel, the Wheelniks participated in group sihot(discussions) to debrief and catch up with one another. Bus C had a magnificently Midwestern day today! They had an awesome time at the Corn Palace exploring and learning about the crops and agriculture of South Dakota. Following this activity, Bus C went to the Wall Drug store, one of the greatest tourist attractions in America, buying some great Americana souvenirs and having an opportunity to look back and see what this country was once like. Later, the Wheelniks had a special opportunity to see an Air Force a capella performance in Rapid City! It was not on their itinerary but the opportunity presented itself and the group happily listened to their dulcet tones. Bus C had a great time today and cannot wait to explore some of our National Parks later this week.

During Tefillot this morning, Bus C learned all about niggunim, wordless tunes, and practiced some so they could sing during Shabbat! From Chicago, they headed North toward Madison, Wisconsin with a first stop on the Wisconsin Duck Tours. On the boat, they traveled on the Wisconsin River, seeing the beautiful sandstone bluffs while trying to stay dry. From the river, the group will head to the grocery store to buy some shabbat treats for themselves and for their shabbuddies. Mostly, though, Bus C is super excited to spend their first Shabbat as a group together, learning, singing, davening, and just plain relaxing. Shabbat Shalom, everyone!

Bus C began their summer with an overview of how Tefillot(services) will be run and a conversation about how everyone, while coming from different backgrounds, will have a chance to grow themselves individually and try new things. Following this conversation, Bus C traveled to the Intercourse Pretzel Factory where they saw how these tasty treats were made and had a chance to try some of them. After this stop, a trip to the Indian Echo Caverns, Bus C traversed the narrow passageways getting some great pictures! On the way to their host town, they stopped next at Hershey’s Chocolate World, sampling some delicious desserts and viewing the history of the famed company. Bus C ended their day in Pittsburgh with a BBQ and a program on goals and fears for the summer. They cannot wait to get moving on their adventures tomorrow!
