USY on Wheels, Bus A
June 28, 2012
After a wake-up in Syracuse, NY, Bus A drove over to Niagra Falls, where they got some great group shots and saw one of the amazing sites of North America! From upstate New York, they headed over to Cleveland for the day and learned about the history of Rock and Roll at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. For lunch, the group had a real treat of Kosher Subway! For much of the group, it was their first time eating Kosher food at Subway, so the excitement was palpable. Two fun evening programs ended their day; The group played Whirlyball, a combination of lacrosse and bumper cars, where they had a wild and crazy time. Following this, they participated in a get-to-know-your-staff program, where they learned all about their amazing staff. Bus A cannot wait to get back on the road tomorrow to head to Chicago, which is where they will be for their first Shabbat together.

Bus A had a very “spooky” day in Salem, Massachusets. They visited the Witch Dungeon Museum, bonding together over the fun frights that were on display. From there, they went to the Pirate museum where they saw real pirate’s treasures! A long drive followed to Syracuse, New York for dinner, more ice-breaking, and a return to host homes where they all are getting a well earned night’s rest!

Bus A started off their summer together with a rousing Shaharit to get the day going! They began their drive with a stop at the Pez Factory in Orange, Connecticut, where they saw how the little candies are made and had a chance to try some tasty treats. Following this, they headed to Newport, Rhode Island visiting the Touro synagogue, the oldest Shul in America. They took pictures and had a discussion about what it means to be a Jew in America. After a long day of adventures, the group headed to the synagogue where their home hospitality was taking place, Temple Israel in Natick, Massachusets, and they had a delectable dinner! Post dinner, the group traveled into Boston proper to see a show of Shear Madness, a hilarious Improv troupe. The group had some serious laughs and is getting a good night’s rest to continue their journey tomorrow!
