Group 3: L’Takayn Olam

June 28, 2012

Today was group 3’s first full day in Israel and it was quite busy. They started by doing a First Temple tour in the Old city, which involved the City of David and Hezekiah’s tunnels, where the kids had the opportunity to walk through water. Then they headed up the hill to see the remains of the Second Temple period with the Southern wall excavations,  Robinson’s arch, and the Kotel. They also walked around the Jewish Quarter and saw a beautiful view of the city. They returned to the base to have dinner and get ready for an evening out at Ben Yehuda street. They enjoyed their first full day!

Group 3 landed safely in Israel this afternoon! They went, first, to Yemin Moshe which overlooks the Old City of Jerusalem. After a special welcoming ceremony, the group drove to the Fuchsberg Center for Conservative Judaism, their home for the next few days. In the afternoon, the group split up and went on different walking tours of the neighborhood so that they could acclimate a bit. After dinner, they enjoyed a fun program prepared by their staff.
