Group 2: Israel Adventure Plus

Group 2 started their final day at to Yad Lekashish, a non-profit based in Jerusalem that provides employment and social services to over 300 elderly artisans. They also went to the Kotel and Ben Yehuda street one final time. They headed back to base to pack and prepare for their final banquet dinner. This evening the group came together to share memories of everything they have done this and accomplished on their incredible journey this past summer. At the end of their night they loaded the buses and headed to the airport. We know that group 2 had an amazing summer and look forward to returning to Israel again soon!

Today the group learned about “New Jerusalem”, which traced the line that was Israel’s border with Jordan before 1967. Their first stop was the Tayelet, which provided a beautiful overview of the Old City. Then they went to Ammunition Hill and walked through trenches which used to be a part of a Jordanian bunker that was the center of battle in 1967. In the afternoon, they walked by the Knesset and learned more about Israeli politics. Then they went to shuk Machane Yehuda one final time before returning to base to pack and prepare for their final Shabbat together. It will be filled with ruach, spirit, learning and more. Shabbat shalom!

Group 2 started their morning at Tel Maresha for an awesome archeological dig! They also engaged in an interesting dialogue about Israel’s history. Then they went spelunking, which is the exploration of caves, in ancient tunnels. They arrived at Kibbutz Beit Guvrin, ate lunch and went swimming. After, they made their way back to base for dinner and free time.

Group 2 left the Negev this morning and stopped at Shvil hasalat (The Salad Trail), where they picked delicious produce , at a farm in the western part of the Negev. Later they made their way back to Jerusalem. In the evening, following dinner, they played drama games which gave the group a chance to reflect on their journey in a fun and active way.

The group left Eilat this morning and started their day in the Negev this morning with a visit to Ben Gurion’s home and grave in Sde Boker. They learned about his dream to make the desert bloom. After lunch they headed to an alpaca farm, where over 400 exotic alpacas and llamas are raised and where the entire process of growing and spinning their fur can be observed. Their next stop was an overlook at the Zin canyon followed by a visit to the Bedouin tents. There, they had an amazing time riding on camels and learning about the Bedouin traditions. They got to experience Bedouin food for dinner. In the evening they enjoyed each other’s company around a bonfire.

Today the group had an exciting and fun day in Eilat! First they went to the underwater observatory in the aquarium where they saw sharks, tortoises and an assortment of fish. They had a delicious lunch in the Hallelujah restaurant followed by a little time to relax. Then they had the exciting opportunity to snorkel and observe the sea landscape in the Red Sea (which is in fact blue). In the evening, after dinner, they went on an awesome disco boat ride around Eilat!
