Sunday, July 31st

Today Bus D made their way from Charlotte to Washington D.C. On the way, the wheelniks watched the film “Remember the Titans.” In D.C. the group began the day by visiting the National Mall. Later the group explored the Smithsonian museums including the famous Air and Space Museum, the National Gallery of Art and the Natural History Museum. In the late afternoon the group went to a local synagogue where they were hosted for dinner. Finally, the group finished the day with a few rounds of bowling.

Sunday, July 31st

After a great Shabbat complete with spirited davening and loads of ruach, Bus C was excited to get another week started. In the morning the group made their way to Little Rock, AK where they visited Central High School. There they learned about the history of the desegregation movement in the United States and the importance of this school, the first school in the south to be racially integrated. In the afternoon they checked into their hotel and later they went out to the ballpark to see the Little Rock Travelers game.

Sunday, July 31st

After a great Shabbat complete with spirited davening, Bus A was excited to get another week started. Today Bus A made their way to Grand Junction, Colorado. On the ride the group watched one of the Harry Potter films. When they arrived in Grand Junction the wheelniks visited Dinosaur Journey where they viewed a film about dinosaurs, saw some of the exhibits and saw models of different species. Later, the group checked into their hotel and had dinner, sichot, and an evening program.

Sunday, July 31st

After a wonderful Shabbat together, Group 8 spent the day around the Kinneret. They hiked down the Arbel, a fortress from the Second Temple Period and then cooled off from the hot day with a swim in the Kinneret! They stopped by the Kinneret cemetery where the famous poet Rachel is buried and visited the grave if Naomi Shemer, famous for her song “Jerusalem of Gold.” In the afternoon, the group rode donkeys and all had a turn to lead the donkey and to ride one as well. They dressed up just like ancient donkey riders and learned about the history of Kfar Kedem. Later, they boarded the bus for the ride back to Kibbutz Hannaton.

Sunday, July 31st

Today Group 7 explored “New Jerusalem.” They first went to the Armon Hanatziv promenade which overlooks the Old City of Jerusalem and offers beautiful views of the city. They then visited the Ammunition Hill, walking through the trenches that used to be part of a Jordanian bunker that was the center of battle in 1967. Later, the group did some last minute shopping time at Shuk Machaneh Yehuda. They then headed back to the Fuchsberg center to pack and prepare for their banquet dinner and final programs. In the evening, the group came together to hang out and share memories of everything they have done and accomplished on their incredible journey this past summer.

Sunday, July 31st

The group had a lovely Shabbat together and as soon as they finished a spirited Havdalah, they packed and changed for their final group banquet. During the banquet, they gave out awards, received special gifts from the staff and the group gave presents to the staff as well. They received their group t-shirts and group photo and then spent their last few hours together sharing memories and reflecting on their awesome journey together. They then loaded the buses and left for the airport. We know that Group 6 had an amazing summer and we look forward to seeing them in Israel again soon!

Sunday, July 31st

The group began their day with a visit to Yad Lakashish, Lifeline for the Old. Yad LaKashish provides a creative work environment and invaluable support services, giving the elderly a sense of purpose and community as well as financial assistance. They then had time for some last minute shopping on Ben Yehuda St. and at the Machane Yehuda Shuk. This afternoon they walked to the Western Wall for the last time this trip and davened Mincha there. They headed back to the Fuchsberg center to pack and prepare for their banquet dinner and final programs, during which the group came together to hang out and share memories of everything they have done and accomplished on their incredible journey this past summer.
