This morning Bus G visited the 3-D Center of Art and Photography in Portland. There, they viewed a new wave of art that exists beyond the traditional two-dimensional style. The group then made their way to Crater Lake. The group also got to play in the snow around the lake! In the evening the group had separate boys/ girls bonding programs.

Today Bus E continued their journey. In the morning they visited the Louisville Mega Cavern where they learned about the history of the cavern and the differences between caverns and caves and took a tram ride through some of the 17 miles of underground roads and paths. The group then stopped for lunch and had a sicha (group conversation) about Birkat Hamazon and discussed why we say this blessing and what it means. Bus E then visited the National Corvette Museum and saw cars from every generation (including a rare 1983 model of which only 40 or so were built, but only one exists today). When they arrived in Nashville the wheelniks visited the Parthenon, a replica of the famous temple that exists in Greece. Finally, Bus E finished their busy day by going out for a few games of bowling.

Thursday, July 7th

This morning Bus D arrived in Reno after their overnight drive. In the morning they had time to rest. The group then headed out to Lake Tahoe for some time at the beach. Later on they had dinner at a local synagogue. In the evening, they went out to the Circus Circus hotel where they went to the amusement tent to play arcade games and ride the rides.

Friday, July 8th

This morning they started their day with Shacharit at Tikochin, where a beautiful synagogue is still standing. They learned about the town and about Jewish life there before the war. Then they drove to the Lupuchova Forest, which is a site of mass graves not far from Tikochin. Then the group drove to Treblinka. Though practically nothing remains from the original camp, there is a very powerful monument at the site of the camp; 17,000 stones jutting out of the ground like tombstones, some with the name of a town or city from which Jews were brought. This number is significant because it represents the number of people murdered at Treblinka each day when the camp functioned at its peak. The group had time to walk around and reflect, and then conducted a memorial ceremony. Then they drove back to the hotel and prepared for Shabbat. They will participate in Shabbat tfilot at the main synagogue in Warsaw- Nozyk. Shabbat shalom!
