Wednesday, July 20th

On Wednesday Bus G continued their adventure in Alaska. In the morning they went on a trust walk and had a meditation shacharit. The group then went on a nature walk around the Denali educational center. Later they went on an 8-hour Tundra Wilderness tour where they saw the lovely landscape as well as grizzly bears, moose, porcupines, caribou and grey wolves. The tour was unlike anything else a wheels bus has ever experienced! The group is enjoying their time in Alaska immensely.

Thursday, July 21st

This morning the group drove to Jerusalem from Arad. Once in Jerusalem, they visited Yad Vashem, the national holocaust museum, and after lunch they visited Mount Herzl where they visited the graves of the founders of Zionism, Yitzchak Rabin, Hannah Senesh, and Michael Levin z”l, a Nativ and Camp Ramah alum who fell in battle during the War in Lebanon in 2006. Then headed back to the Fuchsberg center for a BBQ, a lecture with Neil Lazarus on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Finally, the group finished the day with stand-up comedy show with Joel Chasnoff.

Thursday, July 21st

The group began their day with a fun water hike of the Madrase, one of the streams which flows to the Kinneret. Then they headed to Kibbutz El Rom and visited the “Oz 77” monument on the very battlefield where the tanks clashed in 1973. There they viewed a short film about the heroic Oz 77 Tank Brigade which fought against overwhelming odds to successfully defend the Golan during the Yom Kippur War. This afternoon they had an overlook from Har Bental where they learned about the importance of the Golan Heights for Israel. Group 7 then headed to Tveria where they ate dinner and had free time to shop and walk around before returning to Kibbutz Hannaton.

Thursday, July 21st

Today the group began their day at sunrise in the desert. They davened Shacharit separately, each finding their own space among the sand dunes and rocks. Later they learned to navigate their way through the desert. Once they concluded their Desert experience, they drove back to Jerusalem. The kids had some free time to rest and this evening they had a BBQ for dinner followed by a stand-up comedy show with Joel Chasnoff.

 

 

Thursday, July 21st

Today, the group learned about “New Jerusalem,” which basically traces the line that was Israel’s border with Jordan before 1967. They first went to the Ramat Rachel promenade. They visited Ammunition Hill, walking through the trenches that used to be part of a Jordanian bunker that was the center of battle in 1967. After lunch they drove to Mount Herzl where they visited the graves of the founders of Zionism, Yitzchak Rabin, Hannah Senesh, and Michael Levin z”l, a Nativ and Camp Ramah alum who fell in battle during the War in Lebanon in 2006. They met educators from Boston area and shared their experiences with them. They then headed back to the Fuchsberg center for a BBQ and a stand-up comedy show with Joel Chasnoff.

Thursday, July 21st

This morning the group woke up for their final day of their volunteer projects in Kiryat Shmona. After an ending ceremony, the group drove down to Tel Aviv. They visited Independence Hall, where David Ben Gurion declared Israel an independent state in 1948. Then they went to the Olympic museum. Their next stop was the open market of Shuk Ha’Carmel were they had free time to walk around and do some shopping. Tonight the group spent the night in Tel Aviv.

Thursday, July 21st

This morning the group went on a fun water hike at Nachal Snir, and then had a blast kayaking in the Jordan River. Next they went shopping at the famous Naot factory where they had fun trying on and buying sandals. Their last site of the day was at Agmon Hahula- the site became the second home for thousands of migrating birds that pass through the area in the autumn and spring, as well as the home of many native birds, making it a popular sight for bird-watchers from Israel and abroad. They then headed back to Hannaton for dinner and a group activity.
