Spring Semester, Kibbutz Option

The famous Zionist thinker A.D. Gordon once said, "...Labor is the only force which binds man to the soil... it is the basic energy for the creation of national culture." While living on kibbutz during the second half of the year, Nativers become involved in all facets of kibbutz life, thereby enhancing their connection to the land and the people of Israel. Each Nativer is adopted by a kibbutz family, creating warm connections that often last many years beyond Nativ.

Kibbutz Jobs

  • Irrigation: Nativers work in the fields of the kibbutz laying pipes and making sure that the crops are watered, engaging in a true experience of working the land.
  • Nursery: Nativers spend their days with the youngest members of the kibbutz family, supervising them, playing with them, and enjoying the company of 2-4 year olds.

  • Chicken Coop: The chicken coop provides Nativers with the opportunity to work with the chickens, collecting eggs for kibbutz use and for sale, as well as maintaining the coop itself.
  • Gardening: Nativers get a taste of planting, a little landscaping, and a lot of elbow grease, working with kibbutzniks on the plant life of the kibbutz to keep it green and lush for all to enjoy.
  • Kitchen: Nativers take a hands-on role in the creation and preparation of the kibbutz's food. They join many other members of the kibbutz in an endeavor the whole community appreciates.
  • Cow Shed: The Nativers who work here spend their days working outdoors milking cows and feeding calves.
  • School: Some Nativers have the opportunity to work in a nearby school, teaching high school aged students English.
