Outdoor Adventure,
Pacific Northwest

*The pictures below are links; clicking on them will take you to a larger version of that picture.

Sunday, July 16th:
Today, the group celebrated Howie's birthday and headed to their next location in the Olympic National Forest. Tomorrow they will begin their Backpacking Adventure-- a two-night backpacking trip where they will be broken into two smaller groups for the journey.

Wednesday, July 19th:
The group just arrived back at Sol Duc campground from a very exciting Backpacking Adventure. The boys and girls were hiking separately, which was a wonderful bonding experience for both groups. Tonight, they will compare notes and share some of their experiences. The groups spent the past three days hiking through the Olympics. The "Boys" went to Deer Lake and Mink Lake-- about 12-13 miles. The "Girls" went to High Divide and Bogachiel Peak, a total of 26 miles in their three days! The girls saw the sunrise which was beautiful (the boys were sleeping!). They saw deer and other wildlife--even a bear (from a distance, don't worry)!

Tomorrow, the group will be heading to Ruby Beach as they begin to wind down their summer. They'll spend a relaxing final shabbat together, before heading into Seattle for a day of sightseeing. In less than a week, they'll say their tearful goodbyes at the Seattle airport.
