Israel Pilgrimage, Group #11
*The pictures below are links; clicking on them will take you to a larger
version of that picture.
Wednesday, June 29th:
Group 11 landed safely in Ben Gurion Airport after a slight delay, and was ecstatic
to be back in Israel. They were met by their staff, all of whom live in Israel,
and were excited to meet these fantastic campers. After retrieving their luggage,
the group traveled to Jerusalem, and was welcomed to the City of Gold with grape
juice and bread just like Abraham was when he entered Jerusalem. They then moved
into the guest house of the Fuchsberg Center for Conservative Judaism, where
they will be staying through Shabbat.
Thursday, June 30th :
The small yet peppy Group 11 spent the day learning about the First Temple Period
in Jerusalem. They went to the Jewish Quarter in the Old City, David's Tower,
and Hezakaya's Tunnel. They also had an orientation about what the summer would
bring and had a chance to begin to get better acquainted with one another.
They are starting to feel right at home at the Agron Youth Hostel and are looking
forward to spending their first Shabbat together.

Friday, July 1st :
Group 11 had a fabulous day in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City.
They had a tour in which they were taken to some sites that they had never seen
before, and were excited to learn new things about the ancient city. This afternoon,
the group will prepare for Shabbat. They look forward to doing the Kabbalat Shabbat
service outside tonight, singing, and spending time together. Tomorrow, they
will have the chance to go to different synagogues in the area to see a little
bit of Jerusalem life on Shabbat.
