- *NEW* Creating a Youth High Holy Day Buzz: Great tips for marketing, recruitment and creating a youth presence during the Yamim Nora’im (content of Hakesher Elul 5771/September 2011) One example to try is an Apples and Honey Tikun Olam drive, courtesy of Beth Meyer Synagogue of Raleigh, NC. USYers bag apples and a honey stick and attach this Shana Tova Card that explains the USY Tikun Olam initiative. Stapled to this card is an addressed envelope for donations. USY purchases the honey sticks and either purchase or solicit grocery stores to donate apples. *KEY* for publicity and promotion for the youth program is for USYers to stand at exit doors at the end of Rosh HaShana services (second day if the first day is Shabbat), and hand out the bags.
