This morning Bus B began the ride to Sioux Falls. The group’s first stop was at wheels favorite, Wall Drug. Wall Drug is a local drug store famous for providing any and all visitors with free ice water. the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD. . Later, Bus B visited the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD. The Corn Palace is an old High School gym that has been converted into a museum and a store where one can buy tons of products and souvenirs made with corn. In between these two stops, the group got some great shots of the Badlands, one of the amazing sites of the Midwest! The group cannot believe they are crossing back into the Central time zone, as they make their way back East!

Group 5 started their day at Yad Vashem, Israel’s official memorial to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Then they went to the Herzl museum, located on Mount Herzl. They learned about Herzl and his dreams. They walked around Mount Herzl, which serves not only as the Israel Defense Forces’ official military cemetery but also as the burial site for prominent Zionists, Israeli politicians and figures who have greatly influenced the development of the state. They stopped at the graves of Herzl, Yoni Netanyahu and Michael Levin. After returning to base in the evening they played some drama games which gave the group a chance to reflect on their journey in a fun and active way, followed by a talent show.

The group headed to the Golan Heights this morning where they had a wonderful water hike at the Majrase. After, they went to Kibbutz El Rom to visit the “Oz 77” monument on the very battlefield where tanks clashed in 1973. There they saw a short film about the heroic Oz 77 Tank Brigade which fought against overwhelming odds to successfully defend the Golan during the Yom Kippur War. The group headed to a Har Bental – a mountain overlooking Syria and then they went to Mitzpe Gadot and had an opportunity to view the beautiful valley. In the evening they returned to base to have a nice BBQ and a pool party.

Group 2 started their final day at to Yad Lekashish, a non-profit based in Jerusalem that provides employment and social services to over 300 elderly artisans. They also went to the Kotel and Ben Yehuda street one final time. They headed back to base to pack and prepare for their final banquet dinner. This evening the group came together to share memories of everything they have done this and accomplished on their incredible journey this past summer. At the end of their night they loaded the buses and headed to the airport. We know that group 2 had an amazing summer and look forward to returning to Israel again soon!
