After an eye-opening arrival in Yellowstone yesterday, Bus A continued their touring of Yellowstone today. They saw the amazing Grand Canyon of Yellowstone as a precursor to the “real” Grand Canyon they will be viewing later this summer. Additionally, they saw the always reliable geyser, Old Faithful, which erupts every 91 minutes! To cap off their night in the park, the Wheelniks will break up into Sihot groups to discuss the topic of the evening and following that, Bus A will be having gender bonding activities!

After an awesome visit in Spokane yesterday, Bus C headed into Seattle to experience the Pacific Northwest! Their day was filled with visits to the Space Needle, with some great pictures,  the Experience Music Project, where they explored a museum that is dedicated to the history and exploration of both popular music and science fiction, and finally at Pike’s Place Market, where they saw the famous throwing of fish! To cap off their busy day, Bus C had a delightful dinner of vegetarian Chinese food-well deserved! The Wheelniks can’t wait to explore the Pacific Northwest later this week!

Mission Mitzvah had a wonderful Shabbat and start of the week in New Orleans before heading off to Memphis today. Because they had such a long ride, there were some great bus games and bonding done on the trip. Once they got to Memphis, Bus H  explored Beale Street, a street known for its deep Rock and Soul roots. From there, the group headed back to their hotel, where they participated in a program on Kavod Le’Ani, honoring the impoverished, an important lesson to learn for all of the Wheelniks.

After a wonderful night of home hospitality in Oklahoma City, Bus B set out this morning for Amarillo, Texas! After a long drive south, the group partook in an amazing Jeep tours of the city and its surrounding canyons and beautiful scenery. Once back at the hotel this evening, Bus B will have the ever hilarious game of get-to-know-your-staff, where they’ll have a chance to learn a little about their staff’s background and how they became the great Jewish educators that they are today. The Wheelniks can’t wait to learn more about their wonderful staff and explore the American Southwest later this week!

The group started their morning at the Genscher Cemetery in Warsaw, which has graves from various leading rabbis. Then they went to the Janusz Korczak memorial; Janusz Korczak worked as a the director of an orphanage in Warsaw and refused freedom when it was offered. As a result, he, along with his orphans, were sent to Treblinka extermination camp. Afterwards, they walked along the Heroes trail around the Warsaw ghetto and learned about the heroes of the Warsaw ghetto uprising. They headed to the Umschlagplatz in Warsaw, which was the site of deportation of the Jews. Then they ate lunch and toured Treblinka, the extermination camp, as well as participated in a memorial ceremony. The group headed to the old town square for some free time and dinner before heading to the airport! Everyone is really excited to get to Israel!

The group headed to the negev this morning and started their day with a visit to Ben Gurion’s grave. Then they went for a walk in Ein Ovdat, practiced for Haevent and visited Ben Gurion’s home. After, they headed to Arad for more Haevent practice and an evening of gender bonding.
