Bus H had a nice long drive to Kansas City today, on which the Wheelniks greatly enjoyed one another’s company! Along the way, they stopped at the Branson Hollywood Wax Museum, where they saw some great portraits and models. From there, they continued to work on their time capsule project and also studied the Torah portion for this week. Tonight, once they get to their hotel, they’re going to play The Newlywheels game, a wheels version of the Newlywed Game!

The morning began with a visit to the Israel Museum, led by the wonderful tour guide Mark Lazar, followed by a trip to the Old City to tour through the remains from the Second Temple period. They got a chance to see artifacts in the museum, including the Qumran scrolls and more! From there they toured by the Cardo and enjoyed some free time and a tasty lunch at the Jewish quarter. Then they went to the overlook of the Kotel as well as a visit to Robinson’s arch and the Davidson center. They ended their day with mincha at the Kotel and returned to base for a nice BBQ dinner, a shiur with Rabbi Paul Freedman, a trip to Ben Yehuda street for some free time and shopping and final Haevent practice before the big day tomorrow!

Group 5 left the desert this morning and headed to Tel Aviv! They visited Kikar Rabin, the site of Yitzchak Rabin’s final hours, as he went to a peace rally and was then assassinated. Then they went to Independence Hall, where David Ben Gurion declared Israel an independent country. They ate lunch and went to an Israeli mall to cool down, enjoy some shopping and free time. From there, they headed to the Olympic museum. This evening they will eat dinner and head to the base to do some final Ha’event practice before the big day tomorrow!

Group 4 spent the morning in the Carmel; they went to an overlook in the Baha’i Gardens and saw a beautiful view of Haifa. This was followed by lunch at the Usafia Druze Village where they were hosted to a kosher and delicious Druze meal, which is one of the food highlights of the summer. They learned more about the Druze religion and the unique rules in the small community. They also enjoyed a unique experience walking through the Druze shuk. After, they made their way towards Jerusalem to enjoy a delicious BBQ dinner on base and do some final Ha’event practice before the big day tomorrow!

Group 3 started their day volunteering at an ecological farm. They learned about agricultural techniques and about various Israeli landscapes. Then they enjoyed their time splashing around in the pool at Mesilat Zion. After returning to base in Jerusalem, they enjoyed a delicious BBQ dinner and an evening with Neil Lazarus who talked to everyone about the Arab-Israeli conflict. They ended their evening with some final Haevent practice before the big day tomorrow!

Group 2 continued Gadna today. After the morning inspection and parade, the group went on a hike, learned about field cooking and prepared for target practice. They are having a great time learning about different aspects of Israeli life, especially the army. They have learned how to rise to the challenge and with every day that passes, they improve in doing their exercises. Everyone is enjoying themselves immensely!
