Summer Program Reunions

USYers who went on USY summer programs reunited to look through photos and relive some old memories! Wheelniks, Pilgrims, HeChalutzim Seminar, and Ramah Seminar participants all proudly wore their group shirts and helped encourage more USYers to take part in USY Summer Programs in 2010.

Election of Officers

As part of the 2008 USY International Convention, delegates elect the 2010 USY International Executive Board:

Feature Presentation: Ordinary Heroes

Tonight’s session included a number of presentations. Tikun Olam awards were presented, the Nativ 29 video was presented, followed by David Helfand, 2009 USY International President, who reflected on a meaningful year in office. The program closed with a feature presentation called USY’s Ordinary Heroes.

Nominations and Candidates’ Forum

USY International Convention includes the annual election of officers to lead the organization. Each candidate has an opportunity answer questions posed by current International Executive Board members to highlight their perspective as related to the office they seek.

USY’s Best Dance Crew

The evening program was a dance contest. Each region sent a “crew” that amazed everyone with their brilliant moves and skills. The top three regions were Hanegev, Far West, and NERUSY with Hanegev taking top honors.

Opening Session

International Convention 2009 officially kicked off today with Opening Ceremonies. More than 650 USYers and over 150 staff, representing all 17 regions of USY, overpowered everyone with their ruach! The 2009 International Executive Board and the 2009 Co-Chairs, Chelsea Wagner and David Wallach, then welcomed everyone. USY Director Jules Gutin also introduced the study theme of the convention, which will focus on healthy relationships.
